Equipping vulnerable communities with skills, resources, and opportunities to break the cycle of poverty forever.

In Uganda, youth unemployment stands at over 13%, and for young women, the rate is even higher. Many orphaned youth who age out of sponsorship programs find themselves without skills, capital, or support networks — forced back into the same cycle of poverty they were trying to escape.
At HIAN Charity Foundation, we believe that economic empowerment is the most sustainable path out of poverty. Our Empowerment & Livelihoods Program provides vulnerable women and youth with practical, marketable skills through vocational training. We go beyond training by providing startup kits and micro-grants so graduates can immediately launch their own businesses.
Since launching this program, we have trained over 150 graduates across 6 skill areas. An incredible 85% are now employed or running their own small businesses — proving that when you invest in people, they transform their own lives.
Each course runs for 3-6 months with hands-on practical training and business mentorship.
Sewing, pattern making, and fashion design for clothing businesses.
Furniture making and construction carpentry skills.
MS Office, internet, and digital skills for employment.
Liquid soap, bar soap, and cosmetics production.
Bookkeeping, marketing, and customer service skills.
Modern farming, value addition, and agri-entrepreneurship.
"After my tailoring training with HIAN, I received a sewing machine startup kit. I now run a small shop in my village making school uniforms and dresses. I earn enough to support my three children and even hired my younger sister to help me. HIAN didn't just teach me skills — they gave me a future."
— Nambi K., Tailoring Graduate, Wakiso
"I was an orphan with no hope for employment. HIAN's computer literacy course changed my life. Today I work as a data entry clerk at an office in Kampala. I have dignity, income, and a career path. I am proof that with the right opportunity, anyone can succeed."
— Opio R., Computer Graduate, Kampala
